heartprints partner: Think!! Campaign, is a collaborative effort to mentor, improve leadership, and decision making with youth, as well as members of the prison system to proactively get engaged to stop vicious cycles.
A mutual friend I played football with, and grew up in a nearby neighborhood, recommended I meet a friend of his at church. He said his name was Ron Hummons, and said we shared passion for improving lives, values, and community. After Ron and I spoke the first time, and we shared our vision for community, passion for improving lives, as well as connecting and business sense, we decided there was a chance for collaboration immediately.
My work with the YWCA's Battered Women's Shelter since 1999, as well as personal experiences, have shown an attitude that keeps youth limited in their goals, decisions, and vision for their future, as well as endless stories of oppression, violence, and other hurtful acts against women and children. We seek to eliminate such acts of hurt and oppression. We have teamed to amplify each others efforts and projects. We have met with church leaders and teams, non-profit groups, City leaders, lawyers, and many others to develop our initiatives.
We seek to inspire members of our society by getting involved and mentoring in the prison systems, schools, and educating youth to improve their leadership. Life can get challenging, and presents you with daily decisions we must face. You have a choice, and that choice affects not only your life, but others. We sometimes face situations where the decisions we make lead to detrimental to yourself and others. Some of those decisions put people in prison. We want current members of prison to share their stories and inspire others to not perpetuate these negative decisions, and influence youth in a positive manner, so their lives are not over, but of purpose by sending a message and example to our youth to Think!! about their decisions, lives, families, and future.
We do so by speaking, presenting, and mentoring in schools, prisons, and other organizations such as the YWCA to reach with and send a message that resonates with youth. Ron, and his tremendous story, truly defines how one should react to obstacles. We both seek to inspire youth to take accountability, have leadership, and not fall into the traps of bad decision making that hurt your (and others) lives. He created the Think!! Campaign, and asked heartprints inc., and myself to partner to spread this message. We're passionate about sharing our vision, invite you to connect with us, and collaborate to spread this message!
